Flocabulary (https://www.flocabulary.com) is a learning program that uses educational hip-hop music in all subjects to engage students and increase student achievement for all grade levels. Flocabulary is a great website to help develop core literacy skills with its standard-based videos, instructional activities, and student creativity tools to supplement instruction. The learning program helps teachers meet the Common Core objectives in ELA and math through songs, videos, and exercises that are both engaging and fun for the students and everyone participating. This learning program doesn’t just provide material for just ELA and math it also includes lessons and units aligned to state and national standards for social studies, science, health and physical education. Flocabulary is a great tool to promote literacy since its material and resources are fun and engaging for all that participate.

Through this website teachers can customize their experiences in the classroom by using the videos and resources for whenever they need them by using the websites digital subscription. All these videos and resources can be used to enhance a lesson through providing an interesting introduction, differentiated instruction for all students, test prep, and enrichment activities for students. Through Flocabulary’s great body of academic research, they have designed their program with a multisensory approach of using music, rhythm, and rhyme to help support student achievement and engagement. By using music to facilitate lessons, students are able to memorize and recall academic material while the music can also promote and increase student engagement. Flocabulary’s award-winning vocabulary program called “The Word Up Project” for grades k-8 has proven to increase vocabulary proficiency and raise score on state tests.

If you are interested in signing up with Flocabulary to help enhance learning they provide an affordable individual plan for teachers and parents as well as discounted group plans for schools and districts. For teachers and parents, you can purchase an Individual Plan for $96 per year, schools can purchase a School Plan for all the staff of that school for $2000 per year and the District Plan requires a consultation with Flocabulary personnel to determine the best rate for your district.

Overall, Flocabulary seems to be a great online resource for everyone who wants to improve student literacy skills with the tools provided since they can help increase student engagement. The website is also very organized and easy to navigate. The user-friendly interface is very inviting and with further exploration of the website it can provide you with all the information needed to learn about what Flocabulary has to offer.
