IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #1

            The Literacy Shed (https://www.literacyshed.com/) is home to a wealth of visual resources that has been collected over 10 years according to Rob Smith who manages the site. The purpose of this site is for teachers to use with students in the classrooms when films are appropriate to use. High quality resources are provided in this site to assist literacy lessons. This website provides a huge variety of resources that teachers may use for literacy lessons. Many classroom teachers will gather teaching ideas and learn how to use stories in the classrooms.
Literacy Shed helps students to improve in literacy and critical thinking skills. It accommodates different age groups and all you have to do is choose the one that best fits your curriculum and there are so many materials to choose from. It also features a section which is the resource of the week and blog of the week.
This site is organized and has divided its contents into sheds with animated stories in the video clips along with teaching strategy including discussion questions and writing prompts. Using this site, you can easily find the resources you need because, everything is laid out properly. With the given animation and visuals, students get to imagine as they come across texts.  
            Furthermore, this website for teachers filled with ideas for literacy teaching using visuals such as films, photograph and picture books. This website will help the teachers to find resources that will improve the students in literacy. It is exciting to use visuals in the lessons in literacy to improve the students in reading and critical thinking. This is an useful website provided for teachers to meet the learning needs of the students.
