Internet Tools: Dropbox

All educators love free online tools, and Dropbox (https://www.dropbox.com) is exactly that. Dropbox is a cloud based storage solution which integrates easily with many other online tools and is supported by all major computer and mobile devices including Android and Apple.  Dropbox will seamlessly save, sync, and provide access to multiple files from basically any location with an internet connection. The free basic plan for Dropbox provides 2GB of space.   However, if you need to store large files, you may purchase a Pro subscription and up to 1TB of cloud storage for a monthly fee.

What makes Dropbox exciting is its convenience.  Once you begin using the tool regularly, you will forget about your thumb and external hard drives.  With Dropbox set up, changes to your files are backed up instantly online, and can be accessed from any computer or mobile device with internet access. The whole process is automated, works in the background, and won't slow down your computer at all.  With Dropbox at your disposal, you will have the ability to start on a project from your work computer, check or update the project at any time on a mobile device, and complete the project in the comfort of your home, ALL without carrying a storage device.

Dropbox is one of the oldest and most reliable cloud based storage solutions available on the internet today.  With its simple set up, availability across multiple platforms, and seamless integration, Dropbox definitely ranks among one of the most valuable internet tools available for educators.
