Internet Tools Review: Google Docs

Google Docs is a free web-based application where users can create, edit, and store files – namely, word documents, spreadsheets, presentation slides, and forms. With internet connection, these files can be accessed from any computer at https://docs.google.com or any device with the application installed.

Much of the office programs provided in Google Docs work comparably to the Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs of the popular Microsoft Office Suite. The word processor of Google Docs is known as DocsSheets, its spreadsheet editor; Slides, its presentation maker; and Drawings, its drawing application. Conveniently, files can be uploaded from and exported as f
iles compatible with Microsoft Office.

In addition to the above office tools, Google Docs offers an innovative form creator known as Forms that teachers especially, can appreciateForms can be utilized to create surveys, quizzes, and worksheets. Data is automatically generated and can even be viewed using its partner program, Sheets.

As for one of Google Docs's most noteworthy feature, it must be its sharing capabilities. Not only can users collaborate on files, but do so in real-time. Items are automatically saved so there is no need to fret about forgetting to hit that save button; and if needed, an edit history of a document can be viewed. It also allows users to revert back to a previous version.

Whether or not you have similar programs readily installed onto your computer, Google Docs is still an application that everyone can welcome. With its various features, Google Docs helps users go a long way with its storage and collaborative capabilities on essential office programs that come without a cost.
