Reading
Rockets (http://www.readingrockets.org
) is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of researched-based
reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn
how to read and read better. It is an
effective tool to help assist the parents and teachers in helping their child
or student in building their vocabularies, fluency, and comprehension skills. It
also helps the young child or student become a strong, confident reader.
Reading
Rockets provides free resources about teaching children to read and helping
kids who struggle. You can find articles on teaching reading, classroom
strategies, classroom videos, parents tip in languages and interviews. Reading
Rocket also produces free webcasts for teacher professional development. This webcast
offer the opportunity for the teachers to hear from the national experts and online
movies to help give the teachers ideas on how to help the students with their
reading and writing.
Teaching
reading is a complicated task. By using the reading rocket, it will minimize
the challenges and help students improve their reading and writing skills. It also
provides support for those who at risk, those who have difficulty, kids that
come to school without prior knowledge and encounter reading problems.
The
Reading Rockets’ mission is, “To take that researched-based and best practice
information and make it available to as many people as possible through the
power and reach of television and the internet”.
