Reading Rockets (http://www.readingrockets.org ) is a national multimedia project that offers a wealth of researched-based reading strategies, lessons, and activities designed to help young children learn how to read and read better.  It is an effective tool to help assist the parents and teachers in helping their child or student in building their vocabularies, fluency, and comprehension skills. It also helps the young child or student become a strong, confident reader.
Reading Rockets provides free resources about teaching children to read and helping kids who struggle. Reading Rocket also produces free webcasts for teacher professional development. This webcast offer the opportunity for the teachers to hear from the national experts and online movies to help give the teachers ideas on how to help the students with their reading and writing.
Teaching reading is a complicated task. By using the reading rocket, it will minimize the challenges and help students improve their reading and writing skills. It also provides support for those who at risk, those who have difficulty, kids that come to school without prior knowledge and encounter reading problems.
The Reading Rockets’ mission is, “To take that researched-based and best practice information and make it available to as many people as possible through the power and reach of television and the internet”.
