is a tool created by the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and the
National Association for parents of children with Visual Impairments to provide
parents that have children with visual impairments the support for their needs.
The main purpose this site is to assure that people in need of support receive
the best medical, personal, and emotional care. This site also provides stories
and concerns, and finds resources on raising children from childhood to
adulthood. In terms of literacy, accommodations are shared to help children
with reading and writing. The site helps children develop literacy skills.
Effective methods are shared to help parents provide the appropriate support for
children with impairments.
Depending on a child’s impairment, this site suggests the
appropriate tools to use. For example, if a child has visual impairment, the appropriate
tool or method to use is braille to touch and be able to read. In order to for
you to begin supporting a just, the child should be evaluated. This site has
all the supports for parents to learn and help their children. It is also
considered as an effective tool for literacy.
