Reading Eggs (https://readingeggs.com/) is a multimedia reading program for children ages 2 to 13.  It was created by a team of elementary school teachers, writers, and developers whose main focus is to enable children to read with its sensibly designed reading games and activities. They are very simple to follow, self-paced, and highly appealing for young readers. Children will appreciate its engaging animations, books, characters, songs, and incentives. It will help children be more motivated to becoming proficient readers.
Reading Eggs follows five essential keys to reading success, which are phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency. Phonemic awareness allow readers to hear and manipulate the different letter sounds in words with a series of skill building activities. Phonics allow readers to recognize the connection between letters and sounds. Vocabulary allows the children to understand the meaning of words with visual supports to provide background knowledge and increase retention levels. Reading comprehension allow readers to understand the meaning of a text and fluency helps them to read aloud with speed, accuracy, and understanding. Each role provides its own set of skills and activities which will support the children to deepen their levels of understanding and provide a pleasure for reading along the way.
Reading Eggs provides the program to schools, teachers, and parents. There are different types of reading programs suitable for children of different ages. There’s Reading Eggs Junior for children ages 2 to 4, Reading Eggs for children 4 to 7, and Reading Eggspress for children ages 7-13. Each program offers games and activities, books, lessons, games, and videos for children to learn and enjoy. If interested in the program, there is a subscription pricing on the website. There is a 6 month subscription of $49.95 or a year subscription of $59. There are also book packs with varied prices, which offers multiple resources. If schools choose to subscribe to the program, there is a placement quiz to ensure that children start at the appropriate reading levels. The program is primarily for grades 1 and 2 and special needs students. It can be used with groups or the whole class. If parents choose to subscribe for their child, they can have access to detailed progress reports at home to track their learning. It will also help support their child’s learning so their child will feel happy and confident. They may get a head start and build a long term pleasure and success for reading.
Reading Eggs also offer applications for children to learn on their iPad, iPhone or android. There is also a free trial for those who are reluctant about the program. There are many features on the app that will help teach students with phonics, spellings, vocabulary, math, sight words, and many more. I recommend this reading program to schools, parents, and teachers who are willing to build their child or student’s reading skills.
