Storynory (http://www.storynory.com/) is an online treasure-trove of free audio stories created by lead storyteller, Natasha Gostwick, and Producer Hugh Fraser. Through Storynory’s digital library, readers will find a mixture of original stories, fairytales, and specifically adapted myths and histories. Since November 2005, the writers, publishers, and creators of Storynory publish an audio story every week. They truly made a name for themselves because Storynory’s popularity has exceeded all of their expectations! As of now, there are a half a million story mp3 files downloaded every month from readers all around the world.
Storynory is an excellent digital audio library for families, schools, hospitals, nurseries, and so much more. Stories can be easily downloaded through iTunes and can be transferred onto iPods or other portable players. In addition, Storynory’s target audience is aimed for children from 8 to 11 years old although they still have many young or older readers who listen to their audio stories. Adults also appreciate the artistic quality of the readers’ storytelling. Since many young children listen to their stories, they are starting to add nursery rhymes and other junior books.
Furthermore, the Storynory website acknowledges users to explore the various types of genres they have to offer such as fairy tales, books from classic authors, myths and world, educational, and poems and music. Each genre contains a series of links of audio books. When hearing the audio stories, users will be astonished by the charismatic and animated voices the characters behold! That is one of the reasons why many people continue hearing Storynory’s books. Lastly, the best feature this program has to offer is that it is free! Anyone can enjoy hearing audio books anywhere or anytime. Overall, Storynory is an amazing reading website that I would love to share with my students and niece.
