Webquests provide students with tasks that allows them to use their
imagination and problem-solving skills. The answers are not predefined and
therefore must be discovered or created.
Webquest.org is the pioneer of the Webquest movement. The model was developed by Bernie Dodge at
San Diego State University in February, 1995, and since that time, thousands of
teachers have used Webquests to engage students in online inquiry projects.
Webquest.org (http://webquest.org/)
provides unrestricted access to over 20,000 quests created by teachers from across
the globe. Using the navigation menu on
the site, a visitor can discover, create, and share Webquests with minimal
effort, as well as view many models of completed Webquests before crafting
their own.
Although still an extremely powerful tool and a great resource for
general Webquest information, the site is vastly outdated. The once flourishing
community of Webquest.org users has dwindled overtime. The last post in their community forum was
dated in 2010.
