Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website # 6
Storynory (http://www.storynory.com) is a free online
website with an audio book mixture of new stories, fairy tales, specially
adapted myths and histories, and songs and poems. Since November 2015 this
website has regularly published an audio story every week. The stories on the
website are all read by the great storyteller Natasha Gostwick who has won a
place in the hearts of children and adults all over the world. Through all the hard
work and dedication of the Storynory website writer, producers, publishers, and
creators, the website has now a half a million story mp3 files downloaded every
month from users all around the world.
This amazing digital audio book website
includes many great and amazing features and resources. Some those features
include the option of downloading the audio book to your computer, Ipod, phone,
or tablet, listening to “catch phrase” explanations, the ability to translate
text into different languages, and the written text features available for
students to follow along with the story as it is being read to them. Storynory
provides a large variety of audio books which can be a great way to expand a
user’s digital audio library.
Overall, Storynory
is a great online resource that helps promote reading and literacy. With the
large varieties of online digital audio books users are able to follow along as
stories are read to them and this website is also a great tool for English language
learners as one of the many great features includes the option to translate
text into different languages. This website provides the many great stories for
students and users who are audio and visual learners. I definitely see myself downloading
stories to use in my classroom in the future.
